Use Sanka AI from Microsoft Teams

Add the Sanka app to Microsoft Teams, register the Teams installation in Sanka, and route Teams messages to a workspace.

Last updated: June 27, 2026

Sanka AI for Microsoft Teams lets users ask Sanka from channel mentions, 1:1 chats, and group chats. A Microsoft 365 or Teams administrator must add the Sanka app before workspace administrators can route Teams messages to Sanka.

Preparation

  • A Microsoft 365 tenant with Teams enabled
  • Permission to add or approve Teams apps for your organization
  • Access to the target Sanka workspace
  • Permission to manage Sanka AI app setup in Sanka
  • Matching email addresses or user principal names between Teams users and Sanka users
  • Available Sanka Credit for AI usage
If Teams apps are centrally managed, ask your Microsoft 365 administrator to complete the app upload or approval step.

Add the Teams app

  1. Open Microsoft Teams or the Teams admin center.
  2. Add the Sanka app to the tenant, team, channel, chat, or user scope your organization wants to support.
  3. Confirm that users can see Sanka in Teams.
  4. Install Sanka in the team or chat where users will mention it.
For channel use, Sanka must be available in the target team and channel. For 1:1 or group chat use, users must be able to message the Sanka app.

Register Teams in Sanka

After the Teams app is available, register the Teams installation in Sanka.
  1. Sign in to Sanka and open the target workspace.
  2. Open WorkspacePlan & Billing.
  3. In the Sanka AI app setup area, find Register Teams.
  4. Enter the Teams tenant, team, display name, and bot user information requested by the form.
  5. Click Register Teams.
The registration links the Microsoft Teams installation to the current Sanka workspace.

Create Teams routes

Create routes for the Teams entry points your team wants to use.
  • Workspace default: use this workspace for Teams chats that do not have a more specific route.
  • Channel: route a specific Teams channel to this Sanka workspace.
  • 1:1 chat: route direct conversations with Sanka.
  • Group chat: route a specific group chat conversation.
Start with one workspace default or channel route, then expand after the first test works.

Test in Teams

In a Teams channel, mention Sanka clearly:
Sample prompt
@Sanka show the 5 most recent invoices in Sanka. Do not update anything.
In a 1:1 chat, send a direct message to the Sanka app:
Sample prompt
Show my current Sanka workspace and list 5 recently created companies.

Troubleshooting

  • If Sanka does not appear in Teams, confirm that the app is allowed in the Teams admin center.
  • If the app is installed but messages do not reach Sanka, confirm that the Teams installation was registered in the correct Sanka workspace.
  • If a channel message does not receive a reply, confirm that the channel route exists and that Sanka was mentioned in the message.
  • If a sender cannot be matched, confirm that the Teams user email or user principal name matches an active Sanka user in the workspace.
  • If the Teams admin center cannot load organization-wide app settings, wait for Microsoft tenant provisioning to complete or ask Microsoft support to check Teams app settings for the tenant.
